Getting to know about myself and farming
I grew up on a small dairy farm my whole life. Growing up on a farm had many advantages in life. Advantages included having a good work ethic, experiencing things other people didn't get to, and most importantly to me is being able to get involved with agriculture experiences.
Having good work ethic in life is always key. Growing up as I'm looking into what Id look to do for a career, colleges and jobs will see I can work hard. On the farm you have to be able to work with multiple things, such as animals, feed, machinery, and money! Working with all these things can really help you to be able to multitask on your job and learn to work with different areas of that job.
Experiencing things others haven't been or never will be able to is one of my favorite parts of living on a farm. Having friends that never grew up or have even been on a farm in awesome for me in a way. The friends that haven't grown up on a farm always ask me questions about the farm life. Them asking me questions makes me feel very important in the agriculture world! They ask questions such as "what do you all do?' "why do you like living on a farm?" "Isnt it hard work and boring?" when I answer their questions they are always so shocked with my answers. Another great experience with living on a farm is the passion for animals. Cows are my absolutely favorite animal and having the ability to work with them is incredible!
Lastly, growing up on the farm has gave me many opportunities in agriculture and agriculture experiences for my career. When I'm older Id like to either be an Agriculture Diesel Technician or a Dairy Scientist. I know they don't really relate in any way other than its agriculture but its what I love to do! An activity that helps me become better and more influenced in agriculture is FFA. In FFA I have been involved with many opportunities which include Dairy Placement SAE, Equine judging, running in Office, and getting to meet and become better friends with people who share the same interest as me!
Growing up on the farm has definitely impacted my life with multiple opportunities and I hope to continue learning more and more everyday.
